Become a community contributor

The British Journal is written for Britain, and it belongs to the people who live here. If you live in Britain, you can apply to help cover it as a community contributor.

Contributors report what councils, schools, courts, and businesses are doing. They flag the stories we miss, suggest coverage, draft stories, and take photographs of the places they know best.

Contributors are volunteers. There is no pay and there are no quotas: contribute when you can, on the subjects you know. Every application is reviewed by the British Journal's editor; a short exchange by email follows, and first contributions are supervised end to end.

Everything a contributor submits is reviewed and verified by the title's named editor before publication, and the editor remains accountable for everything the British Journal publishes.
