About the British Journal

The British Journal is a British journal of news and analysis, published in London by Tribune Publications. We cover the United Kingdom as a working country, not a postcard: Westminster and Whitehall, the economy, the NHS and public services, and the culture of the nations and regions.

We cover a select committee with the same care we give a Budget. We check numbers against primary sources, we attribute what we cannot verify ourselves, and we would rather be second than wrong.

Our standards follow the tradition of the Editors' Code of Practice administered by IPSO: accuracy, privacy, and the public interest. We keep news and opinion strictly separate. Reporters report; they do not take positions on the matters they cover. Opinion pieces are labeled as opinion and signed by their authors.

We answer to no interest but our readers. Send us news tips, tell us what we missed, and hold us to these promises, loudly, when we fall short.
